St. Mary's Co. Signs 3-year Contract for Healthcare Services at Jail

HANOVER, Md.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Conmed Healthcare Management, Inc. (NYSE Amex: CONM) has signed a new three-year contract with St. Mary’s County, Maryland, to provide correctional healthcare services for its adult detention center. The contract includes an initial one-year term, with two one-year mutually agreed option periods. The first year of the contract is expected to generate annual revenues of approximately $560,000. St. Mary’s County was the very first county served by Conmed starting in 1984.

The contract provides for a suite of services for the St. Mary’s County Adult Detention Center, including medical staffing, laboratory and mobile x-ray services, management of out-of-facility services, and the full administration of the Sheriff’s Employee Health Program, with pre-employment physicals, as well as screenings and inoculations for tuberculosis. Mental Health services are also provided under a separate contract. The approximate average prisoner population of the facility is 245 inmates.

"We are very pleased to announce this new agreement with our oldest client, the very same county in which Conmed began its service offerings more than 26 years ago,” commented Dr. Richard Turner, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, of Conmed. “This contract underscores our remarkable client retention record and is a testament to Conmed’s commitment to bring quality care to correctional facilities that is efficient, consistent, and budget-conscious. We look forward to continuing to provide quality medical and healthcare services to detainees in the St. Mary’s County Adult Detention Center.”
