LA PLATA, Md. (March 18, 2011)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DUI CHECKPOINT AND PATROL OPERATION RESULTS: On Thursday, March 17, Charles County Sheriff's Officers assigned to the Special Operations Division conducted several DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout the county looking for impaired drivers. As a result, officers arrested 7 people for DUI, charged another person with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, issued 157 traffic citations, 168 warnings, 21 equipment repair orders and recovered a stolen car.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED: On March 17 at 9:20 a.m., PFC. D. Walker was clearing a traffic stop on Crain Highway at Leonardtown Road when his Agency TAG reader - a device that scans registration plates on passing cars - alerted him of a stolen car in the vicinity. The officer spotted the vehicle and confirmed it had been stolen from Mt. Rainier. Officer Walker initiated a traffic stop near Acton Lane and arrested the driver, Anthony Harold Morris, 43, of Mt. Rainier. During the arrest, officers recovered 16 baggies of suspected marijuana and other drug paraphernalia inside the car. Morris was charged with the unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while suspended.
