MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 17, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On March 14, 2011 at 3:03 pm, TFC E. J. Page initiated a traffic stop on green Chevrolet Camaro in the area of Persimmon Creek Road for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the occupants, the operator, a male juvenile, 17, of Mechanicsville, provided information that resulted in a probable cause search of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed CDS - Marijuana in both the center console and under the passenger seat. The operator along with an additional male juvenile, 17, of Mechanicsville, were both arrested for Possession of CDS and CDS Paraphernalia. Both subjects were transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for processing. They were both released from the barrack to the custody of a guardian pending further action by juvenile services.

BURGLARY 2ND DEGREE: On Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 9:33 am, TFC M. A. Moore responded to the 43000 block of Commerce Avenue in Hollywood for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, contact was made with a male complainant, 28, of Bowie, who advised that property that was located in the business establishment had been removed via a broken window. Surveillance footage from the establishment provided a suspect for the crime. TFC Moore responded to the 20000 block of Point Lookout Road in Great Mills and made contact with suspect, Roger Lee Wathen, Jr., 18, of Leonardtown. An interview with Mr. Wathen and search of Mr. Wathen's vehicle was conducted. Mr. Wathen was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 3:45 pm, Tpr. E. T. Reuschling served a Bench Warrant (T3-14838) on Mario Martinus Hatton, 24, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued for Mr. Hatton's arrest on February 24, 2011 by the District Court of Calvert County. The original charge was Driving On A Suspended License. Mr. Hatton was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention for service and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 6:20 pm, TFC M. B. Adams responded to the Belk Department Store in the Wildewood Shopping Center in reference to a reported theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with Loss Prevention personnel and female shoplifter that had been detained. Surveillance footage provided by Loss Prevention displayed the female juvenile, 17, of Patuxent River, concealing merchandise on her and attempting to exit the establishment without purchasing. The juvenile was arrested for Theft Under $100.00 and transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack. She was released to a guardian pending further action by juvenile services.
