LA PLATA, Md. (March 15, 2011)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DETECTIVES ARREST SUSPECT IN STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On March 2, detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division arrested Tony Wayne Stone, 21, of Waldorf, in connection with a strong-arm robbery that occurred on January 6 at the Days Inn on Crain Highway. During the robbery, Stone and an accomplice approached the victim as she was delivering a food order to a customer at the motel. They asked if she was making a delivery and when she acknowledged she was, Stone and the other suspect grabbed the food out of her hands and fled. Investigators tracked down several leads and subsequently identified Stone as a suspect. Detectives are working leads to indentify the second suspect. Stone was charged with robbery. Detective Baker investigated.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On March 14 at 7:56 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of N. Maple Avenue in La Plata for the report of a robbery. The victims, ages 40 and 67, were sitting in a car in the parking lot when two males, described as being in their teens or early twenties, approached and demanded their purses. The victims resisted and one suspect displayed a handgun. One of the victims gave the suspects her purse and the suspects fled. No one was injured. TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN ASSAULT AND ROBBERY: On March 12 at 12:02 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers arrested Emily Green, 20, of Waldorf, and a 17-year-old male in connection with an assault and robbery that occurred on Mall Circle minutes earlier. During the robbery, Green, the teenager and at least two other suspects approached the teenaged victims, assaulted them and stole their cell phones and shoes. The victims fled and flagged down a police officer who, with the assistance of a Maryland State Police Trooper, located the suspects. Officers also recovered the victims' stolen property. Detectives are in the process of identifying the remaining suspects.

PATROL OFFICER CHECKING ON SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE LOCATES DRUGS: On March 12 at 2:06 a.m., Officer Campbell was checking on a suspicious vehicle at the rear of a building on Technology Way. As he approached the car, he smelled the odor of marijuana. A check revealed the occupants of the car had several baggies of suspected marijuana, a digital scale and drug paraphernalia. Christian Stokes, 28, and Stephen John Stokes, 26, both of Fort Washington, were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.

ATTEMPT ROBBERY: On March 9 at 10:55, officers responded to the parking lot of Giant in Waldorf for the report of an attempt robbery. The victim reported he was putting groceries in his car when the suspects drove up, got out of their car and demanded money. The victim refused to comply at which point one of the suspects displayed a handgun. The victim pushed the gun away and began fighting with the other suspects. The suspects got back in the car - described as a silver colored passenger vehicle - and fled. Nothing was reported stolen. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On March 7 at 8 p.m., the victim, 18, was at the Smallwood Park and Ride when he was approached by a man who asked for change. When the victim turned toward the man, the man struck him. Several other males approached and assaulted the victim as well. They stole his wallet and cell phone and fled. The suspects are described as being in their teens. Anyone with information is asked to call (301) 932-2222. Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward.

ROBBERY: On March 7 at 8:05 p.m., officers responded to Moreland's Store in the 14900 block of Woodville Road in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. An employee said two men entered the store, displayed a hand gun and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspects fled. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence.
