Local Navy Contract Awards


WASHINGTON (March 7, 2011)—The U.S. Department of Defense recently announced the following contract awards that pertain to local Navy activities.

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, Williston, Vt., is being awarded a $7,838,160 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed price contract (N00421-10-C-0024) to exercise an option to procure 22 M61A2 20mm lightweight Gatling gun systems in support of the F/A-18 E/F Strike Fighter Program. Work will be performed in Burlington, Vt. (50 percent), and Saco, Maine (50 percent), and is expected to be completed in April 2013. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

SimVentions Inc., Fredericksburg, Va., is being awarded a $40,096,811 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for continued research and development of an open collaborative toolset used to provide a clear view for all acquisition stakeholders of each phase of the engineering process including requirements definition, design, test and evaluation, deployment; and in some cases, decommissioning. Work will be performed in Fredericksburg, Va., and is expected to be completed by March 2016. Contract funds in the amount of $60,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren, Va., is the contracting activity (N00178-11-D-3010).

Martin-Baker Aircraft Co., Ltd., Middlesex, England, is being awarded an $18,346,701 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed price contract (N00019-07-C-0011) to exercise an option for 65 Navy Aircrew Common Ejection Seats (NACESs) for the F/A-18 A+, C+, E, F, and EA-18G aircraft for the U.S. Navy and the governments of Australia and Kuwait. In addition, this option provides for associated hardware, equipment, technical data, and production support services. Work will be performed in Johnstown, Pa. (60 percent), and Middlesex, England (40 percent), and is expected to be completed in December 2012. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract combines purchases for the U.S. Navy ($18,233,051; 99.4 percent) and the governments of Australia ($51,920; .27 percent) and Kuwait ($61,730; .33 percent) under the Foreign Military Sales Program. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

Honeywell International, Inc., Defense & Space Electronic Systems, Albuquerque, N.M., is being awarded an $8,289,979 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract (N00019-10-C-0061) to exercise an option for the procurement of 131 Advanced Multi-purpose Displays (68 5x5 forward displays; 42 5x5 aft displays; and 21 8x10 displays) for Lot 35 F/A-18F and EA-18G aircraft. Work will be performed in Albuquerque, N.M., and is expected to be completed in December 2011. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

BAE Systems Land and Armaments, Inc., Louisville, Ky., is being awarded a $33,920,480 undefinitized firm-fixed price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for MK38 Mod 2 machine gun systems. The MK 38 Mod 2 machine gun system ordnance alteration (ORDALT) kit consists of two-axis stabilization with remote control capability and an on-mount day/night electro-optical suite along with an eye-safe laser range finder. This procurement is to acquire a quantity of up to 150 ORDALT kits spanning fiscal 2010 through 2013, with deliveries starting in February 2012. Additionally, there will be line items established for the procurement of installation and checkout spares; on-board repair parts; ORDALT kits; engineering and field services; training; and provisioning item orders. Work will be performed in Hafia, Israel (67 percent), and Louisville, Ky. (33 percent), and is expected to be completed by March 2012. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head, Md., is the contracting activity (N00174-11-C-0015).

The Boeing Co., St. Louis, Mo., is being awarded an $8,763,991 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price delivery order contract (N00383-06-D-001J) for integrated logistics support; in-service engineering; information systems; technical data; support equipment engineering; automated maintenance environment; training/software integration support; provisioning; and A-D sustaining engineering services in support of the F/A-18 A-D, F/A-18 E/F, and EA-18 G aircraft. Work will be performed in St. Louis, Mo. (70 percent); El Segundo, Calif. (15 percent); Oklahoma City, Okla. (6 percent); Bethpage, N.Y. (5 percent); and San Diego, Calif. (4 percent), and is expected to be completed in December 2011. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

Bell Helicopter Textron, Fort Worth, Texas, is being awarded a $12,600,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee order against a previously issued Basic Ordering Agreement (N00019-11-G-0003) for design and development activities in support of the AH-1Z and UH-1Y cuff and yoke redesign. Work will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas, and is expected to be completed in June 2013. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
