CALIFORNIA, Md. (March 1, 2011) The Southern Maryland Navy Alliance has announced a change in leadership. Todd Morgan has turned the duties and responsibilities of president over to Ed Sierra. Sierra had been serving as the executive vice president. Morgan recently assumed his first term as a commissioner for St. Mary's County.
Sierra is a long time member of the Alliance and the Southern Maryland community. He founded Sierra Management & Technologies, Inc. in 1993 and serves as the president and chief executive officer.
Through his position as executive vice president of the Alliance, Sierra was being groomed to ultimately assume the role of president, according to a statement from the organization. The Alliance modeled their grooming process after the Navy's "fleeting up" model.
Glen Ives has assumed Sierra's prior role of executive V.P. Ives is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and United States Army War College; he served as a Naval Officer and Navy pilot. His last assignment was in Southern Maryland as Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Patuxent River.
The Alliance is a private organization, governed by an elected board of directors, whose primary mission is "supporting, promoting, and enhancing the intellectual capital and infrastructure at Patuxent River and St. Inigoes as economic assets and resources to the Southern Maryland region."
