St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (February 15, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, THREAT AGAINST A PUBLIC OFFICIAL: On February 12, Deputy Flelage responded to the St. Mary's County Detention Center of a destruction of property report. Investigation revealed inmate Antonio Warren Gantt, 43 of Leonardtown, pulled a Sanyo television set off the wall and threw it onto the floor causing it to break. While Deputy Flelage was processing Gantt for the destruction of property, Gantt made two separate assassination threats against elected officials Judge Raley and States Attorney Fritz. Deputy Flelage informed Gantt that a threat against a public official is a crime. Gantt's informed Deputy Flelage he was serious about the threats. Gantt was charged with destruction of property and two counts of threats against public officials.

HOSPITAL HAS MAN ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING: On February 12, deputies responded to St. Mary's Hospital for a report of a trespasser. Investigation revealed Steven Wayne Carter, 52 of Lexington Park, was asked to leave the property by hospital officials and he refused. Carter was arrested and charged with trespassing.

SHOPLIFTING FROM KOHL'S: On February 13, deputies responded to Kohl's Department Store for a report of a theft. Investigation revealed Irma NMN Leon-Leon, 21 of Lexington Park, stole another customer's blackberry and several items of jewelry from Kohl's. Leon-Leon was arrested and charged with two counts of theft under $1,000.

TRESPASSING, THEFT: On February 13 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Deputy First Class George responded to the area of South Greens Rest Lane in Great Mills for a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival Dfc. George discovered two juvenile occupants in the vehicle. Investigation revealed the juveniles were waiting for Andrew Joseph Gerek, 23 of St. Mary's City, who had gone into the woods. A short time later Gerek exited the woods and was interviewed by Dfc. George. Gerek could not explain why he had been in the woods. Further investigation revealed Gerek entered onto the property of Champion Auto Parts, which is located a short distance through the woods. While on the property Gerek stole several car parts belonging to Champion Auto Parts. Champion Auto Parts is posted no trespassing. Gerek was charged with trespassing and theft.

POSSESSION OF HANDGUN, DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On February 13 at approximately 2:15 a.m., Tory Dinone Herbert, 25 of Callaway, was in the parking lot of WaWa in California. An off-duty District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Officer observed a handgun in Herbert's waistband. Herbert got into a 1998 Dodge van which was parked the parking lot. The off-duty officer contacted 911 and several deputies responded. Herbert was removed from the van for further investigation. As Herbert was exiting the van, deputies discovered a .22 caliber revolver containing six rounds. Herbert was placed under arrest. As he was being handcuffed he began yelling. His disorderly conduct caused a crowd to assemble and was disturbing the natural course of business for the establishment. Herbert was charged with carrying a handgun and disorderly conduct.
