Drug Arrest in St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (January 31, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Narcotics Division today released the following incident and arrest report. The Division is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police Drug Enforcement Division, and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on September 1st, 2007 and is based in St. Mary’s County.

Arrest photo.ARREST ON INDICTMENT: Vice narcotics detectives presented the investigation of Michael Allen Bassford, age 42, pictured at left, to the St. Mary's County Grand Jury. Suspect Bassford has been suspected of dealing prescription medication at various points in St. Mary's County. He was apprehended with cocaine, methadone, morphine and enough alprazolam (Trade name Xanax) to indicate the intent to distribute. He was originally held without bond.
