Local Nonprofit Has Chance at $25,000 Pepsi Grant


Anyone can help with a mere click of a mouse, but online voting ends Monday

CALIFORNIA, Md. (January 30, 2011) — The Crib, a Lexington Park-based non-profit has a shot at a $25,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project — but, to win, they need you to go online and register your vote before Monday comes to an end. Each month, Pepsi awards up to $1.3 million in grants to the ideas with the most votes from the public. The top 10 non-profits with the most votes win.

“We are vying for a $25,000 grant against hundreds of other nonprofit organizations,” stated Stephanie Hall, assistant program director for The Crib. “We need everyone’s help!”

Started in St. Mary’s County in 2008, The Crib focuses on serving single parent families experiencing some type of life challenge, be it economic, relational, environmental, or emotional. The Crib focuses on parenting skills, education and job skills, practical life skills and supporting parents as they pursue their goals.

You can vote for The Crib once a day through Monday, January 31, by going to www.refresheverything.com/helpsingleparentsincrisis. Voting can also be done by texting: 105152 to Pepsi (73774).

As of Sunday afternoon, The Crib is ranked in 220th position.
