LEONARDTOWN, Md. (January 28, 2011)The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.
TWO TEENS ARRESTED FOR HOME INVASION: On January 2, police responded to a residence in Lexington Park for the report of a home invasion/robbery. The victim reported unknown subjects forced entry to his residence, assaulted him, and stole various items from the residence before fleeing on foot. The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded and assumed the investigation. On January 25, two African American juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were arrested and charged with second-degree assault and theft. The 16-year-old juvenile was released to his parents pending further action by juvenile authorities. The 17-year-old was being held at the Cheltenham Youth Facility pending further action by juvenile authorities.
SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED: On January 27, information was received from the District of Columbia Sex Offender Registry that registered sex offender Jon William Jones, age 71, had moved to Lexington Park. Jones failed to register his new address in Maryland per law. An investigation by the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations Sex Offender Unit was conducted. Jon Jones was located, arrested, and taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged with failing to register and failing to notify the registry of an address change. Jones is being held without bond pending an appearance before a district court judge.
