SAVANNAH, Georgia. (January 23, 2011) Calvert County jazz vocalist Diane Daly will travel to Savannah, Georgia this week to compete in the 17th annual American Traditions Competition for Singers.
From January 24 29, the American Traditions Competition brings to the Savannah stage 32 of the nations best singers who compete for gold, silver and bronze medals and more than $40,000 in cash prizes.
Ms. Daly is one of 32 quarterfinalists chosen out of 67 applicants. It took the judges four days to narrow the list.
The performances will take place at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension and the Lucas Theatre for the Arts in Savannah. This music competition celebrates American composers such as: Barber; Gershwin; Bernstein, Ellington and Savannahs own Johnny Mercer.
ATCs Artistic Director, Joel A. Martin has assembled world-class celebrity judges to judge this years competition: three-time Grammy-winner, Sherril Milnes; Broadways Forbidden Diva, Christine Pedi; The Metropolitan Operas former leading Mezzo-Soprano Hilda Harris and Broadway Superstars Craig Schulman and Chapman Roberts.
Ms. Daly has been performing professionally around the Washington/ Baltimore metro area since 2004. She released her debut CD I Aint Blue in 2006 on the Backstreet Label. Her upcoming performances include; Valentines Day at the Westlawn Inn and as part of a line-up of jazz luminaries at the Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival on February 20.
