MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (January 20, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, January 11 at 9:45 am, TFC N. E. Gresko initiated a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima at Maryland Route 5, south of Maryland Route 247. Upon making contact with the operator of the vehicle, Steven Preston Yates, 60, of Loveville, TFC Gresko detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Yates was also observed placing an unknown item between the center console and the driver's seat. A probable cause search of Mr. Yates' person and vehicle, revealed CDS and CDS Paraphernalia in his possession. A MVA query also indicated that Mr. Yates was not authorized to operate the vehicle due to a revoked and suspended driving status. Mr. Yates was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged accordingly. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

TELEPHONE MISUSE, HARASSMENT: On Tuesday, January 11 at 3:35 pm, Cpl. K. M. Rossignol responded to the 22000 block of Cartwright Road in Leonardtown for a reported telephone misuse. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant, 33, of Leonardtown who advised a female victim, 15, of Leonardtown, was being harassed via telephone. The victim and complainant were able to provide documentation that supported the report of harassment as well as information confirming that the subject was asked to stop. On Wednesday, January 12, Cpl. Rossignol responded to the 22000 block of Lawrence Avenue in Leonardtown to make contact with a female suspect, 16, of Leonardtown. Information obtained during the course of the investigation along with statements provided by all involved parties, resulted in the arrest of a female juvenile, 16, of Leonardtown. The juvenile was released on scene to a guardian pending further action by juvenile services.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, January 12 at 7:50 pm, William L. Barnes, 28, of La Plata, turned himself into the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for an outstanding warrant. TFC M. J. Pitcher transported Mr. Barnes to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and served the bench warrant (T3-13127). The warrant was issued for Mr. Barnes arrest in October of 2007 by the District Court of St. Mary's County. The original charge was Driving On A Suspended License. Mr. Barnes was held at the Detention Center pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, January 13 at 7:15 pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher served a bench warrant (T3-14747) on David Robert Cook, 31, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued on October 7, 2010 by the District Court of Harford County with an original charge of Driving Without A Required License. Mr. Cook turned himself into the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack and was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, January 14 at 7:15 pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher and TFC M. B. Adams served two outstanding bench warrants (T3-14650 / T3-14651) on Antwuan Marquis Somerville, 21, of Lexington Park. The warrants were issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on November 3, 2010 with original charges of Driving on A Suspended License and Attempting to Elude Police. Mr. Somerville was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, January 16 at 10:40 am, TFC M. A. Moore served a bench warrant (T3-14739) on Franklin Earl Robinson, 42, of Brandywine. A warrant was issued for Mr. Robinson's arrest on January 7, 2011 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License. Mr. Robinson was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
