Government Schedule Changes for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Jan. 17


CALIFORNIA, Md. (January 14, 2011)—Local governments announced closings and schedule changes in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday which will be celebrated on Monday, January 17.

CHARLES COUNTY GOVERNMENT

The offices of Charles County Government, the Tri-County Animal Shelter in Hughesville, and the Crain Memorial Welcome Center in Newburg will be closed on Monday, January 17, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The Charles County Landfill, Recycling Center and Composting Facility in Waldorf, and the Pisgah Recycling Center will be open. Curbside recycling services will not be affected.

VanGO will operate on a reduced holiday schedule, Monday, January 17, 2011. Waldorf Park and Ride last trips will be at 6:00 p.m. with the exception of Business A and B loops, last trips will be at 5:00 p.m. All La Plata last trips will be at 5:30 p.m. Call 301-609-7917 ext. 3 or 301-934-9305 for more information. CALVERT COUNTY GOVERNMENT

All Calvert County government offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 17.

The Calvert Pines, Southern Pines and North Beach senior centers will be closed Jan. 17. Meals on Wheels will be delivered to clients.

All Calvert Library locations will be closed Monday, Jan. 17.

There will be no public transportation services Jan. 17.

All Solid Waste facilities will be open and operating on normal business hours on Monday, Jan. 17.

ST. MARY'S COUNTY GOVERNMENT

St. Mary's County Government Offices and all three St. Mary's County Libraries will be closed on Monday, January 17. Offices and libraries will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, January 18.

The St. Andrews Landfill and six St. Mary's County Convenience Centers and the St. Mary's Transit Service (STS) will be operating normal business hours on Monday, January 17.

All Department of Aging Senior Activity Centers will be closed and there will be no Meals On Wheels delivery.

COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN MARYLAND

The College of Southern Maryland will be closed Monday, Jan. 17. The college will resume its normal schedule Tuesday, Jan. 18. The first day of classes for the spring 2011 semester and minisession I is also on Jan. 18.

Access to online services, including registration, is available at www.csmd.edu through my.CSMD services.

COMMUTER SERVICES

There is no MARC Train or Commuter Bus Service on Monday, January 17.
