Local Schools to Dismiss 2 Hours Early Due to Forecast Snow


CALIFORNIA, Md. (January 11, 2011) — Local schools have announced early dismissals today due to impending snow. The forecast is calling for snow to start before 1:00 p.m. and continue until the early morning hours tomorrow. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches is possible.

Calvert County schools will be closing two hours early today and all after-school activities will be cancelled this evening.

Charles County Public Schools is also dismissing students two hours early today. The Board of Education meeting is still being held, starting at 1 p.m.; however, student and employee recognition and public forum portions of the meeting are canceled. All afternoon and evening activities are canceled.

St. Mary's County Public Schools will dismiss two hours early today. Buses will begin their return routes at that time. P.M. pre-kindergarten classes are cancelled. A.M. pre-kindergarten students will be held at their schools until buses begin their return routes. All after school and evening activities are cancelled. If no further announcements are made, schools will resume their normal schedule tomorrow.

The Greenwell Foundation announced that riding lessons scheduled for today will be canceled. Make-ups will be offered.
