LEONARDTOWN, Md. (December 16, 2010) On Sunday, December 5, FLOW Mentoring, a program of St. Mary's County Public Schools, was awarded $1,500 by the Silent Angel Memorial Foundation at the Ninth Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The Silent Angel Memorial, founded by Mrs. Eileen Bildman in 2002 after her son was tragically murdered, seeks to provide hope and support to family members of homicide victims in St. Mary's County. During the annual ceremony, held this year at the Bay District Fire House, an angel ornament is hung on a Christmas tree by family members as the name of each victim is read aloud, along with the date that the victim became a "Silent Angel."
In addition to holding an annual ceremony, the Silent Angel Memorial Foundation also provides contributions to groups that reflect a positive influence on the citizen's of St. Mary's County. This year, FLOW Mentoring was selected as the recipient organization.
"FLOW would like to thank the Silent Angel Memorial Foundation for this generous gift," said Ms. Sarah Tyson, FLOW Mentoring program manager. "FLOW will use these funds to continue our work to provide positive mentoring relationships for young people in our community."
The Silent Angel Memorial is a non-profit organization that is supported by donations from the community and sponsored by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office. For more information about the organization please visit
