BALTIMORE (December 7, 2010)—The Maryland Department of the Environment recently announced several major enforcement actions for alleged violations of MDE requirements for water, land, air or radiation management in the southern Maryland region.
WAYSON LAND HOLDINGS LIMITED PARTNERSHIP CALVERT COUNTY: On October 26, 2010, Wayson Land Holdings Limited Partnership paid a $600 penalty to the Maryland Clean Water Fund to resolve alleged violations including performing earth disturbance greater than one acre at the Clyde Jones Road Industrial Flex Space Units construction project located in Owings without a stormwater discharge permit.
CALVERT COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS: On October 14, 2010, the Calvert County Department of Public Works paid $9,600 to resolve three alleged unauthorized discharges of wastewater from the Solomons Wastewater Treatment Plant and Collection System. Corrective actions have been taken to resolve the problem.
ERDMAN HEALTHCARE FACILITIES COMPANY CALVERT COUNTY: On October 14, 2010, Erdman Healthcare Facilities Company paid $53,550 to the Clean Water Fund to resolve alleged sediment control and general discharge permit violations that occurred at the Calvert Medical Arts Center construction project. Corrective actions have been taken to address the alleged violations and the project is now complete.
