Local Government Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule Changes


CALIFORNIA, Md. (November 23, 2010)—Local governments announced closings and schedule changes for the coming Thanksgiving holiday.

CHARLES COUNTY

The offices of Charles County Government and the Tri-County Animal Shelter in Hughesville will be closed on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26.

The Charles County Landfill, Recycling Center, Composting Facility and the Pisgah Recycling Center will be closed on Thursday, November 26 only.

The curbside recycling collection and weekly yard waste collection service schedule will be as follows: Thursday “B” blue bins and yard waste routes will be serviced on Friday, November 26, and Friday “B” schedule will be serviced on Saturday, November 27.

CALVERT COUNTY

All Calvert County government offices will be closed Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26.

The Calvert Pines, Southern Pines and North Beach senior centers will also be closed Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26. Meals on Wheels will not be delivered Thanksgiving day, with delivery to resume on Friday, November 26.

All Calvert County libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, and reopen on Saturday, November 27.

There will be no Calvert County bus service on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26. Regular Saturday service will resume on Saturday, November 27.

All Customer Convenience Centers and the Appeal Landfill sites will be closed on Thursday, November 25, and will reopen for regular hours on Friday, November 26.

ST. MARY'S COUNTY

St. Mary's County Government Offices will be closed on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26. County offices will re-open on Monday, November 29.

The St. Andrews Landfill, six Convenience Centers and St. Mary's Transit System (STS) will be closed on Thursday, November 25, and will re-open Friday, November 26 for normal business hours.

All three St. Mary's County Public Libraries will close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, and be closed all day on Thursday, November 25. The libraries will re-open Friday, November 26 for normal business hours.

All Senior Activity Centers and Nutrition Sites will be closed on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 with no Meals on Wheels Delivery.

The St. Mary's County Health Department will be closed Wednesday, November 24 to comply with a State Furlough date. The office will reopen on Monday, November 29 at 8:00 a.m.

COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN MARYLAND

The College of Southern Maryland will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 28. The college will resume its normal schedule Monday, Nov. 29.

MTA COMMUTER BUS SCHEDULE

MTA Commuter Bus schedule for November 24, 25, and 26, 2010, are as follows:

On Wednesday, November 24, 2010, the MTA will operate on a modified PM schedule (see below).

On Thursday, November 25, 2010, the MTA will NOT operate service on any Commuter Bus Route.

On Friday, November 26, 2010, the MTA will NOT operate service on any Commuter Bus Route.

MODIFIED SCHEDULE FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON (AM will operate as scheduled)
The MTA expects many patrons will choose to leave work early on the day before Thanksgiving and therefore, we are modifying many of our PM bus schedules for November 24, 2010, in an effort to accommodate an anticipated early rush.

Please note that on all trips being doubled up, the 2nd bus will start its trip 5 minutes after the 1st buses regularly scheduled departure time. The following changes will be implemented on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 24:

Baltimore Service

Route 310 - Will run regular service and special midday trip departing Johns Hopkins at 1:10pm, and will serve the same stops at Trip #6.

Route 320 - No changes (will run regular service).

Route 410 - No changes (will run regular service).

Route 411 - No changes (will run regular service).

Route 420 - Will run as scheduled. Also, Trip A (Friday mid-day) will also run.

Washington D.C. Service

Route 901 - Trips 44, 49, 53, and 59 will not operate, as scheduled. Instead, three buses will run trip 31 (mid-day). Two buses each will run trips 32 and 33, making all regularly scheduled stops.

Route 902 - Trips 30 and 33 will not operate, as scheduled. Instead, two buses each will run trips 18 (mid-day) and 19, making all regularly scheduled stops.

Route 903 - No changes (will run regular service).

Route 904 - Trips 23 and 25 will not operate, as scheduled. Instead, two buses each will run trips 15 (mid-day) and 16. Both of trips 15 and 16 will consolidate at Pindell, with 1 trip each continuing on to North Beach.

Route 905 - Trips 40 and 43 will not operate, as scheduled. Instead, two buses each will run trips 24 (mid-day) and 25. Both of trips 24 and 25 will consolidate at Charlotte Hall, with 1 trip each continuing on to California.

Route 907 - No changes (will run regular service).

Route 909 - No changes (will run regular service).

Route 915 - Trip 17 and 21 will not operate, as scheduled. Instead, they will depart M & 8th Sts. at 1:40PM and 2:00PM, and will serve the same stops as trip 12.

Route 922 - Trip 22 will not operate, as scheduled. Instead, it will depart N. Capitol & H Sts. at 1:00 PM, and will make all regularly scheduled stops.

Route 929 - Trips 20 and 23 will not operate, as scheduled. Instead, two buses each will run trips 13 (mid-day) and 14, making all regularly scheduled stops.

Route 950 - Trip 31 will not operate, as scheduled. Instead, it will depart C St. & 21 St. at 1:15 PM, and will serve the same stops as trip 18.

Route 991 - Trips 25 and 28 will not operate as scheduled. Instead, two buses each will run trips 18 (mid-day) and 19. Both of trips 18 and 19 will consolidate at Monocacy, with 1 trip each continuing on to Hagerstown.

Route 995 - Trips 22 and 26 will operate 3 hours earlier than scheduled, departing 19th and M Sts. at 1:35pm and 2:30pm. Both trips will serve same stops as trip 26.
