LEONARDTOWN, Md. (November 16, 2010)—St. Mary's County Sheriff's Corporal David Alexander and his wife Jo Anne were honored by the Commission for Persons with Disabilities at the weekly St. Mary's County Board of County Commissioner's meeting on October 26.

For the past seven years the couple has collaborated with community members, businesses, and organization to arrange and successfully hold the St. Mary's County Law Enforcement Torch Run for Maryland's Special Olympics. Their combined efforts have raised over $65,000 to fund events such as training, competitions, and programs which benefit Special Olympic athletes, their families, and the community.
