CALIFORNIA, Md. (October 27, 2010)The Charles County Sheriff's Office has just announced a press conference for Thursday at 10:00 a.m. to make an announcement in the 2004 unsolved murder of Waldorf resident Christopher Mader. Mader was shot and killed early Thanksgiving morning, 2004, while driving home from work on Smallwood Drive near St. Stephens Drive.
According to sheriff's office spokesperson Diane Richardson, the family of Mr. Mader will be present at the conference.
Richardson declined to comment further, citing a desire to be fair to all media in light of the high interest in the case.
The sheriff's office has actively sought information from the public on the murder over the years via the media.
Detectives received several leads following the murder but the leads did not produce a suspect. Prince Georges County Police received a 9-1-1 call in connection with the incident shortly after it occurred, however, after a brief conversation the call was disconnected before the call-taker was able to obtain the callers information.
