ST. MARYS CITY, Md. (October 13, 2010)Award-winning investigative filmmaker Sherry Jones will host a panel discussion on U.S. policies on detention and interrogation during the War on Terror at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, October 14, in Cole Cinema in the Campus Center at St. Marys College of Maryland. Panelists include Marine Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch, a veteran military pilot and prosecutor, who refused to prosecute a prisoner at Guantanamo prison; Harpers Online blog author Scott Horton; and Tom Wilner, a D.C. attorney who was counsel to Guantanamo detainees in two landmark Supreme Court cases.
The event, A Government of Laws and Not of Men: Accountability and the War on Terror, is part of a series of lectures and film screenings sponsored by the Center for the Study of Democracy to raise awareness of human rights issues throughout the world.
