LA PLATA, Md. (October 6, 2010)The Charles County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday released the following incident and arrest reports.
PATROL OFFICERS APPREHEND BURGLARY SUSPECTS: On Sept 30 at 1:24 p.m., officers responded to the 3800 block of Lightarms Place in Waldorf for a burglary in progress. The victim reported she had just returned home from an event and observed three unknown males inside her house. When confronted, one male jumped out of an open second story window and the other two suspects fled through a back door. The victim called police and provided a description of the suspects. Officers canvassed the neighborhood and located two suspects at a nearby convenience store. Jonathan Lee Hicks, 20, of Waldorf, and a 17-year-old male were arrested. Detectives are working to identify the third suspect. A search of the victim's house revealed the suspects forced open a back door and were in the process of stealing electronics, game systems and food when the homeowner walked in. The suspects were charged with burglary, attempt theft and destruction of property. Cpl. Beall is investigating.
SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING THEFTS: The Charles County Sheriff's Office is urging residents to take precautions after responding to three thefts in the La Plata area that occurred between October 1 and October 2. Investigation revealed the suspects entered a house through an unlocked door on Gold Rush Court and stole a purse that was about 10 feet from the doorway. Later, the suspects broke into a car on the same street and stole a purse that was left on the front seat. Officers also responded to a theft on Hawkins Gate Road in which the suspects broke into a car and stole a purse. Officers canvassed the area and developed several leads after finding some of the stolen items in a nearby wooded area. The Sheriff's Office is reminding residents to remove valuables from unattended vehicles and to secure all doors and windows. Officer B. Virts is investigating.
