LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 23, 2010)—Two major events occurring in St. Mary's County this weekend promise additional traffic on the roads and call for increased driver awareness.
The St. Mary's Century Bike Ride, scheduled for Saturday, September 25, will put over 500 slow moving bicycles on the County's two lane rural roads. The ride will begin with registration by all riders at the College of Southern Maryland's Leonardtown Campus from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. There are three routes for riders, a 35 mile, 62 mile and a 100 mile route. All routes end at the
college. For detailed maps of the routes, visit

The St. Mary's County Fair, operating all weekend, will bring many visitors to the Leonardtown area. When parking is full on the fairgrounds, parking is allowed across the street in the school parking lots; but Fair goers must cross Rte. 5 at the traffic light. Additional parking is available at the St. Mary's County Governmental Center in Leonardtown and STS Buses will be available for shuttling.
