Local Navy Contract Awards


WASHINGTON (Sept. 22, 2010) - The U.S. Department of Defense recently announced the following contract awards that pertain to local Navy activities.

DRS ICAS, LLC, Buffalo, N.Y., is being awarded a $6,853,882 firm-fixed-price contract for production of AN/USQ-81(V) gigabit ethernet multiplex system (GEDMS) shipsets for new construction and in-service Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) class destroyers, an Australian land based test site, associated installation and checkout repairs, and related GEDMS hardware for Wasp (LHD 1) class and Whidbey Island (LSD 41) class ships and the AN/SPA-25 radar program. GEDMS is a mission critical ship-wide data transfer network that is a key enabler for the DDG modernization program. The network transfers inputs/outputs for the machinery control system, damage control system, steering control system, AEGIS Combat System, navigation displays, and interior communication alarms and indications. This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $20,338,277. This contract combines purchases for the Navy (95 percent) and the government of Australia (5 percent) under the Foreign Military Sales program. Work will be performed in Johnstown, Penn. (80 percent), and Buffalo, N.Y. (20 percent), and is expected to be completed by March 2015. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was procured on a limited competition basis via the Federal Business Opportunities website, with two offers received. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren, Va., is the contracting activity (N00178-10-C-2007).

Goodrich Pump & Engine Control Systems, Inc., West Hartford, Conn., is being awarded a $6,853,008 firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of 348 electronic digital engine control units for the H-60 helicopter. Work will be performed in West Hartford, Conn., and is expected to be completed in August 2013. Contract funds in the amount of $748,317 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity (N00019-10-C-0090).

The MIL Corp., Bowie, Md., is being awarded an $8,395,848 modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee contract (N00421-09-C-0096) to exercise an option for engineering support for the development, integration, and procurement of mission systems integration on airborne and shipboard platforms. This effort will support the Mission Systems Engineering Branch of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division. The estimated level of effort for this option is 107,000 man-hours. Work will be performed in St. Inigoes, Md., and is expected to be completed in September 2011. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

Northrop Grumman Corp., Integrated Systems, El Segundo, Calif., is being awarded a $35,580,508 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract (N00019-10-C-0052) to exercise an option for the procurement of 33 center barrels and loose and miscellaneous parts for the F/A-18 A-D aircraft. Work will be performed in El Segundo, Calif., and is expected to be completed in October 2013. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
