MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 13, 2010) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Monday, September 6 at 9:33am, TFC M. B. Adams responded to the World Gym in the 21600 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, TFC Adams observed Christopher Ronald Patterson, 20, of Lusby being detained by two subjects in the lobby of the establishment. TFC Adams was informed that Mr. Patterson was detained after assaulting the two males, 23, of Leonardtown, and 29, of Lexington Park, after being asked to leave the premises. The request for Christopher Patterson occurred after he attempted to force a female, 19, of Ridge, into his vehicle following a verbal altercation. Based on statements provided by three complainants and several witnesses, Christopher Patterson was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged with Second Degree Assault, Attempted Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, and Disorderly Conduct and will be held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On Tuesday, September 7 at 6:59pm, Tpr. E. R. Mersman responded to the Long John Silvers in the 21500 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for a reported fight in progress. Upon arrival, contact was made with a male complainant, 30, of Waldorf, who advised Craig Ryan Scopin, 20, of Great Mills, entered the establishment and while ordering began using racial slurs and making accusations against employees. Mr. Scopin attempted to assault the complainant but was prevented from doing so by a male subject, 33, of Baltimore. Based on information provided by the complainants and his behavior in front of the Tpr. Mersman, Craig Scopin was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged with Disorderly Conduct and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Wednesday, September 8 at 5:30pm, TFC J. S. Gibson responded to the 24000 block of Brickhouse Farm Lane in Hollywood for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with suspects/complainants Charles Benedict Norris, II, 40, of Hollywood, and Dawn Marie Kidwell, 43, of Hollywood, both of whom advised they were in an altercation. Due to conflicting stories and the presence of minor injuries both parties were arrested for Second Degree Assault and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Mr. Norris and Ms. Kidwell will both be held pending bond reviews with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, September 9 at 7:00pm, Cpl. J. L. Linger initiated a traffic stop in the area of Maryland Route 235 and Town Creek Drive on a Ford passenger vehicle for a suspected safety equipment violation. Contact was made with the male driver, 18, of Lexington Park, and Keon William Sanders, 22, of Lexington Park. Following the observance of possible CDS, a probable cause search of the vehicle and its occupants revealed Keon Sanders to be in Possession of Cocaine, Marijuana, and CDS Paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle was issued numerous traffic violations stemming from operating an unregistered vehicle, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Mr. Sanders was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged accordingly. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Friday, September 10 at 6:25am, TFC E. J. Page responded to the 21500 block of Old Missouri Street in Lexington Park for a reported domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant, 23, of Lexington Park, who advised she was assaulted during an altercation with Errin Levar Sheard, 30, of Lexington Park. The female advised during the course of the argument she was struck with Mr. Sheard's hand and with a cell phone, upon calling the police Mr. Sheard left the residence. Mr. Sheard was located in the surrounding area and arrested for Second Degree Assault. Mr. Sheard provided a statement while at the St. Mary's County Detention Center, and was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Saturday, September 11 at 7:15pm, Tpr. B. T. Wiesemann arrested John P. Steinbach, 41, of Waldorf while on a traffic stop in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Abell Street in Leonardtown. Mr. Steinbach was arrested for an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-14572) through the District Court of Charles County. The warrant was issued by the court on August 25 with an original charge of Theft Less Than $500.00 Value. Mr. Steinbach was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
