CALLAWAY, Md. (Sept. 7, 2010)—The Leonardtown High School Varsity Dance Team has been invited to perform at the Orange Bowl Game in Miami, Florida in January of 2011. In addition to performing in the half-time show, the team will participate in a dance education program.
"We will spend a total of four days together learning really cool things about dance while working with some of the best choreographers in the country at a national dance event," wrote Denise Lourette, the team's coach.
This event is operated by Bowl Games of America Performance, which was established in 1980 by a group of educators who believe that dance students deserve new and challenging performing opportunities and education. "BGAP, along with their parent company, Worldstrides, are the best in the educational travel business with the most extensive insurance coverage in the industry, making sure this event will be safe and educational as possible," added Lourette.
In order to take part in this adventure, the team needs to raise $15,000.
They have already held a car wash and a yard sale at the Forrest Career & Technology Center in Leonardtown. A Back To School Dance is scheduled for September 17.
