CALLAWAY, Md. (Sept. 3, 2010)—Local government entities announced the following closing and schedule changes for the Labor Day weekend.
COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN MARYLAND
The College of Southern Maryland will be closed Saturday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 6. The college will resume its normal schedule Tuesday, Sept. 7.
Classes begin for the Fall semester and Fall Minisession I on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Registration will be available throughout the Labor Day weekend at
www.csmd.edu through online access at my.CSMD services.
CALVERT COUNTY
The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners announced that county offices will be closed on Monday, September 6, in observance of Labor Day. County offices will reopen Tuesday, September 7, for regular hours.
The Appeal Landfill and all customer convenience centers will be closed Monday, September 6. All sites will reopen Tuesday, September 7, for regular business hours.
The county senior centers will be closed on Labor Day and Meals on Wheels will not be distributing home-delivered meals. Calvert Libraries will be closed Saturday, September 4, and Monday, September 6.
Public transportation service will run on the regular schedule for Saturday, September 4. There will be no service on Monday, September 6, and service will resume on Tuesday, September 7.
CHARLES COUNTY
The Charles County Commissioners announced that the offices of Charles County Government, the Tri-County Animal Shelter in Hughesville, the Charles County Landfill and Composting Facility off Billingsley Road in Waldorf, and the Pisgah Recycling Center on Route 425 in Pisgah will be closed on Monday, September 6, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
Every-other-week curbside recycling blue bin collection service will be affected by the holiday. There will be no pick up on Monday, September 6. Those on the Monday A Week Schedule will have their recyclables picked up on Tuesday, September 7. Those on the Tuesday A Week Schedule will have their recyclables picked up on Wednesday, September 8. Thursday and Friday A Week service is not affected.
Weekly yard waste curbside collection will also be affected by the holiday. Those with Monday collection service will have their yard waste picked up on Tuesday, September 7. Those with Tuesday collection service will have their yard waste picked up on Wednesday, September 8. Thursday and Friday service is not affected.
ST. MARYS COUNTY
County Government offices will be closed on Monday, September 6, in observance of Labor Day. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 7.
The St. Andrews Landfill and six Convenience Centers will be closed and the St. Mary's Transit System (STS) will not be operating on Labor Day, Monday, September 6. The Landfill, Convenience Centers, and STS will be open for normal business hours prior to and after the observed holiday.
All Senior Activity Centers and the three St. Mary's County Libraries will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 6. There will also be no Meals on Wheels delivery.
The St. Mary's County Health Department will be closed Friday, September 3 to comply with a State Furlough date. They will reopen on Tuesday, September 7 at 8:00 a.m.
The Early Voting Center will be open for voting over the Labor Day holiday weekend. They will be open on Friday, September 3, Saturday, September 4 and Monday, September 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The center is located in the Potomac Building (former Governmental Center), 23115 Leonard Hall Drive, Leonardtown.
