Carter Arrested for Aug. 28 Lexington Park Murder

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 30, 2010)—Andrew Allen Carter, 24, of Lexington Park, was arrested today at a private residence in Baltimore for the August 22 murder of Antonio Nathaniel Pollard, Jr., 22, of Lexington Park. Carter was arrested without incident, transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center, and charged with first degree murder. Carter is currently awaiting an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

The arrest was made by U.S. Marshals from the Washington Area Fugitive Task Force, along with St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) detectives.

Police found Pollard suffering from a gunshot wound to the head at a private residence on Lexwood Drive in Lexington Park after being called to the address for a report of a shooting. Pollard was transported to Washington Hospital Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives from BCI assumed the investigation and identified Carter as a suspect. Police say Carter had fled the scene on foot prior to officers arriving.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Carter charging him with first degree murder. During the investigation it was determined Carter was also wanted on an outstanding warrant in Worchester County, Maryland for violation of probation as a result of a conviction for robbery.
