Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (August 23, 2010) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: During the week of August 16 through August 22, deputies responded to 1,769 calls for service throughout the community. Deputies also arrested 9 people and charged them with DWI/DUI during the week.

CDS VIOLATION, THEFT: On August 15 at 6:20 p.m., Dep. R. Brady responded to Ken Mar Liquors for a theft report. A female customer had reportedly put five bottles of wine inside her purse, left without paying, and got into a vehicle and left the parking lot. On August 17 DFC C. Ray responded to Ken Mar Liquors for the report that the female was again in the store. DFC Ray interviewed the suspect who, it was later determined, repeatedly gave a false name and address to DFC Ray. A search incident to arrest for false information revealed drug paraphernalia. Sonya Renee Mitchell, 30 of Huntingtown, was arrested and charged with false statement to a peace officer, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, a hypodermic syringe and a metal tube used to inhale cocaine. Dep. Brady applied for charges and Mitchell was arrested on August 19 and served with a warrant charging her with theft less than $100 and false statement to a police officer.

THEFT: Sometime between August 1 and 20, unknown suspect(s) stole a Ryobi cordless drill, a Ryobi impact gun and two duffle bags filled with miscellaneous tools from a vehicle parked outside a home on Commanche Road in Lusby. Dep. V. Evans is investigating the $800 theft.

BURGLARY: A home on Park Chesapeake Drive in Lusby was burglarized sometime between August 1 and 20. The suspect(s) stole $1400 worth of property to include a Sony DVD/CD player, a Pioneer DVD/CD player and other items. DFC D. Denton is handling the investigation.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Approximately $4000 in damage was done to the greens at Mellomar Golf Park on Scaggs Road in Owings overnight between August 20 and 21. It appears the culprit(s) drove a golf cart over the greens and damaged the grass. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC R. Kreps at 410-535-2800.

CDS VIOLATION: DFC C. Childress conducted a traffic stop on August 21 at 9:51 p.m. at Md. Rt. 4 and Saw Mill Road in Lusby. The driver, later identified as Dale Lee Tierney, 29 of Waldorf, was found to be in possession of drugs. He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance Schedule IV drug, Ambien.

THEFT: On August 22, DFC R. Kreps responded to Huntingtown High School for a theft report. Johnson Service Inc., a contractor working at the school, had a red Honda 5550 generator valued at $800 stolen overnight the previous night. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC Kreps at 410-535-2800.

THEFT: A red 26 inch Klein Pulse mountain bike valued at $800 was stolen from the back of a vehicle parked at a home on Christianna Parran Road in Chesapeake Beach. DFC Kreps is investigating the theft that occurred overnight between August 21 and 22.
