LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 19, 2010) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
THEFT OF TWO BOTTLES OF LIQUOR: On August 18, deputies responded to Big Dogs Paradise in Mechanicsville for a report of a theft which had just occurred. The complainant reported that a very tall black male, wearing black shorts and a black jacket, stole two bottles of liquor and fled in a black Nissan bearing Maryland registration. A lookout was broadcast for the vehicle and the suspect. A short time later the Nissan was located along with Ronald Lee Hartley, 24 of Lexington Park, who matched the description of the suspect who had committed the theft. Further investigation revealed Hartley was the individual who stole the liquor from Big Dogs Paradise. Hartley was arrested and charged with theft under $100.
SHOPLIFTING, POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On August 18, Dfc. Ruest responded to Kohl's Department Store in Lexington Park for a report of a theft. Investigation revealed Justin Richard Lewis, 19 of Lexington Park, removed items from the store shelves, concealed the items on his person, walked past all points of purchase and attempted to leave the store without paying. Lewis was stopped by store security and detailed until Dfc. Ruest arrived. Lewis was arrested for theft. A search of Lewis' person incident to the arrest revealed Lewis was in possession of a metal smoking device containing suspected marijuana residue. Lewis was additionally charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
