Experimental Plane Lands on Rt. 235 Due to Prop Failure


HOLLYWOOD, Md. (August 5, 2010)—Today at approximately 10:09 a.m., a small two-seat experimental plane landed on Maryland Route 235 in the area of North Clover Hill Road in Hollywood, St. Mary's County. The pilot, James Dayton of Mechanicsville, reported the "prop" malfunctioned while in flight.

Dayton was able to land the plane on Route 235 without incident. He taxied the plane onto the yard of a private residence on Clover Hill Road.

Dayton, who was the only occupant of the plane, was not injured.

This incident was handled by Cpl. S. B. Koch of the Maryland State Police.
