MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (August 4, 2010) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) released the following incident and arrest reports.

CHASE ENDS WITH NUMEROUS CRIMINAL AND TRAFFIC CHARGES: On July 28 at 12:41 a.m., TFC Dawson attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations on Bay Avenue at 3rd St. in North Beach. The driver refused to stop and attempted to elude the Trooper. The suspect's vehicle continued at high speeds on Route 261 into Anne Arundel County. On Lake Shore Drive, the suspect's vehicle collided with the Trooper's cruiser. Both vehicles came to a stop in the roadway and the driver, Cecil M. Nelson, Jr., 18 of Sunderland, was arrested. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been taken without authorization from the owner, a family member. Stolen tags had been placed on the vehicle by Nelson and he was in possession of Marijuana when arrested. He was charged with numerous traffic violations, possession of Marijuana, Theft Under $100 and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center. No one was injured in the incident.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA AND THEFT: On July 28 at 3:44 a.m., Trooper Bender responded to the 800 block of San Mateo Trail in Lusby for a report of a disorderly person. During the investigation, Nicholas S. Swinford, 30 of Lusby, was found to possess marijuana and stolen medications. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Theft Under $100.00. He was incarcerated in the Calvert County Detention Center.

THEFT FROM BOAT: On July 28 at 8:16 a.m., Trooper Smith responded to the 400 block of Clubhouse Drive in Lusby for a reported theft. Two "Ugly Stick" brand fishing rods and a tackle box were stolen from a boat in the yard. A "Diawa" brand fishing rod was also stolen from the bed of a truck. Investigation continues.

BURGLARY: On July 28 at 9:48 a.m., TFC Laziuck responded to the 3100 block of Dixie Land Circle in Huntingtown for a report of a burglary. A shed in the backyard of the residence was broken into. A weed trimmer, buffer, pressure washer and numerous miscellaneous tools were taken. Investigation continues.

AUTO THEFT: On July 29 at 7:09 a.m., TFC Wiersma responded to the 100 block of M. F. Bowen Road in Prince Frederick for a report of a stolen vehicle. A 2008 green Lexus SUV was stolen from the driveway. The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside. Investigation continues.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE: On July 29 at 1:30 p.m., Corporal Koch stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Route 4 at Dares Beach Road. A police K-9 was used to scan the vehicle and cocaine was located. Ryan M. Taaffe, 24 of Owings, was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

BURGLARY: On July 29 at 10:07 p.m., Trooper Lewis responded to the 300 block of Grover Lane in Lusby for a reported burglary. A television, a laptop computer and a Nintendo Wii gaming system were stolen. Investigation continues.

ASSAULT: On July 30 at 1:36 a.m., Trooper Bender responded to the 7-11 convenience store in Solomons to assist with dispersing a disorderly crowd. Tina M. Tippett, 21 of Lexington Park, was attempting to assault someone and the Trooper intervened. Tippett assaulted the Trooper and was arrested. The Trooper was not injured. Tippett was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

SHOPLIFTING: On July 31 at 3:21 p.m., TFC Gill responded to the Giant in Prince Frederick for reported theft. Wade Shelton, 46 of Prince Frederick, was charged for attempting to steal a camera and a pair of scissors from the store.

DUI AND CONCEALED DANGEROUS WEAPON: On August 1 at 7:42 p.m., Trooper Lewis stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Route 4 at Stoakley Road. Steven C. Marlowe, 23 of Prince Frederick was placed under arrest for DUI. A search of the vehicle revealed that he was in possession of a concealed knife. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

THEFT OF REGISTRATION PLATES: On August 2 at 8:15 a.m., Corporal Koch investigated the theft of registration plates from a vehicle parked in the driveway in the 2500 block of Sixes Road. Investigation continues.

Rodney J. BROWN, 28, of Indianapolis, IN, arrested on 08/01/10 @ 04:15 am by TPR. E. West

Steven C. MARLOWE, 23, of Prince Frederick, arrested on 08/01/10 @ 07:42 pm by TPR. R. Lewis

Roberto FLORES, 41, of Waldorf, arrested on 08/02/10 @ 03:05 am by TPR. E. West
