MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 26, 2010) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Thursday, July 22 at 7:39am, Tpr. B. T. Wiesemann responded to the area of Shine Willow Way in Lexington Park for a reported malicious destruction of property. Upon arrival, contact was made with a male complainant, 34, of Saint Leonard, who advised between the evening of July 21 and the morning of July 22, unknown suspects caused damage to a fence on private property. Panels on the fence were removed. Any information pertaining to this case may be forwarded to the Leonardtown Barrack; this investigation is ongoing.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Thursday, July 22 at 11:16am, TFC E. J. Page responded to the 37000 block of Paul Ellis Road in Avenue for a reported theft. Upon arrival, TFC Page made contact with a female complainant, 40, of Avenue, and a juvenile witness, 12, of Avenue, both of whom advised an unknown male subject entered onto private property and removed scrap metal from the location. Any information pertaining to this case may be forwarded to the Leonardtown Barrack; this investigation is ongoing.

THEFT UNDER $1000: On Thursday, July 22 at 8:16pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher responded to 23000 block of Gross Drive in California for a reported theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant, 39, of California, who advised at approximately 6:00pm in the 42000 block of Allison Drive in Mechanicsville, an unknown suspect enter her unlocked vehicle and stole money from an unattended purse. The complainant was unable to provide any additional information; information pertaining to this case may be forwarded to the Leonardtown Barrack; this investigation is ongoing.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Friday, July 23 at 9:30pm, Tpr. B. T. Wiesemann responded to the Food Lion in the 45000 block of Alton Lane in California for a reported theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant, 43, of California, who advised a male subject was detained in the store after attempting to leave the establishment without paying for items. James Allan Winters, 30, of Leonardtown, was arrested on a criminal citation for Theft Under $100.00. Mr. Winters was released on scene and the property was returned to the store.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Saturday, July 24 at 3:52am, TFC D. S. Brill arrested Walter Harrison Nelson, 43, of Lexington Park, on a warrant (T3-14488) issued by the Circuit Court in St. Mary's County. The warrant was issued on June 24 for Driving Under the Influence. Mr. Nelson was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and will be held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, July 25 at 8:57am, TFC K. D. Lashley initiated a traffic stop on a gold Toyota Corolla in the area of Maryland Route 234 and Chaptico Hill Lane for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver, TFC Lashley detected the odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Subsequently, a juvenile male, 16, of Mechanicsville, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. A search incident to arrest revealed Marijuana in the vehicle. The juvenile was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack and released to a parent pending further action by Juvenile Services.
