St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 22, 2010) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

SUSPENDED LICENSE, ILLEGAL DRUGS, WANTED PERSON: On July 21 at approximately 4:20 a.m., Corporal Moritz was on routine patrol in Lexington Park when he noticed Jerome Anthony Chase, 47 of Mechanicsville, operating a motor vehicle. Cpl. Moritz is familiar with Chase and believed that Chase was operating the vehicle while his driving privileges were suspended. Cpl. Moritz ran a computer check on Chase through the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles and verified that Chase's license privileges were currently suspended. Cpl. Moritz attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Chase failed to stop his vehicle and continued on Great Mills Road to Shangri La Drive and pulled into the Mr. Tire parking lot. Chase was asked to step from the vehicle and told he was under arrest for driving on a suspend license. Chase resisted arrest and attempted to flee on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Chase was arrested. A search of Chase incident to his arrest revealed he was in possession of suspected crack cocaine. A passenger in Chase's vehicle was identified as Ashley Nicole Thomas, 23 of Lusby. A computer check of Thomas revealed an outstanding warrant for her arrest in Calvert County and she was arrested on the warrant. A search incident to Thomas' arrest revealed she was in possession of suspected marijuana. Chase was charged with driving while suspended, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, suspected cocaine, fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest. Thomas was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, suspected marijuana. Both were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

Missing Person Devon Andrea BakerMISSING PERSON: St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations is requesting the public's assistance in locating a critically missing person, Devon Andrea Baker, age 37, African/American female, 5 feet in height, weighing 145 pounds, with shoulder length black hair and brown eyes (see photo). Ms. Baker was last observed wearing a black T-Shirt, black shorts, black tennis shoes, a silver in color nose ring, silver in color large loop earrings, silver in color thin "rope style" necklace, carrying a black in color purse and has a tattoo of a rose on her right ankle. Baker was last observed leaving a private residence on Liberty Street in Lexington Park on July 17 at approximately 9:45 p.m. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Devon Baker is asked to contact Det./Cpl.
