Charles County Sheriff's Officers Join 7-Eleven Stores to Reward Good Deeds!
LA PLATA, Md. (July 12, 2010)—Hey kids! This summer, if Charles County Sheriff's officers catch you doing something good - like wearing a bike helmet, picking up trash or using cross walks, you may just find yourself with a "ticket" that you can use to cash in for a cool treat! Thanks to "Operation Chill" - a program developed by 7-Eleven stores - officers who observe kids doing good deeds or practicing good safety can reward the youngsters with coupons for a free Slurpee.
"The Sheriff's Office is always looking for ways to promote positive behavior in youth," said Sheriff Rex Coffey. "With 'Operation Chill', officers have the opportunity to interact with kids in a positive setting. We want kids to know that their good deeds do not go unnoticed," said Sheriff Coffey.
The children "ticketed" by officers will receive coupons good for a 12-ounce Slurpee that can be redeemed at any participating store. "Though the reason for being stopped and "ticketed" may vary from child to child, the end result is always the same- a free Slurpee and positive interaction with police," said Sheriff Coffey.
