Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (July 7, 2010) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: During the week of June 28 through July 4, deputies responded to 1,886 calls for service throughout the community. Additionally, deputies arrested 5 people and charged them with DWI/DUI during the week.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: DFC J. Bell responded to a home on Red Eye Road in Lusby on June 30. The homeowner advised that he was at home and shortly after midnight he heard a loud noise coming from the basement. It appeared that someone kicked in the basement door but did not come inside the house. Nothing appears to have been taken. DFC Bell is continuing the investigation.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Approximately $700 in damage was done to a vehicle when the windows were broken out as it was parked in the driveway of a home on Lobo Court in Lusby on June 30 between 1:00 and 4:00 a.m. DFC J. Morgan is investigating. About two hours later, Dep. J. Lord responded to a call for a theft from a vehicle on Oxbow Court. The victim advised that the window of her vehicle had been broken out and her purse had been stolen. The damage is estimated at $250. The purse and contents, including an Ipod Touch, are valued at $800. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 410-535-2800.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE: A green 2005 Chrysler Sebring convertible was stolen from a home on Weeping Willow Lane in Huntingtown overnight between June 29 and 30. The vehicle was later found abandoned on July 2 on Allnut Court in Prince Frederick. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. R. Kreps at 410-535-2800.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: A purse, Apple iPhone and Apple touch Ipod and adaptor valued at $450 were stolen out of a vehicle parked outside a home on Shamrock Court in Port Republic between June 29 and 30. The vehicle had been unlocked. A second vehicle at a home on the same street was also entered and a purse stolen. That vehicle had been left unlocked. The window on a vehicle at a third home on Shamrock Court was smashed and an Apple Ipod Touch was stolen. Dep. V. Evans is investigating the thefts. THEFT: A blue Jincheng 50 cc dirt bike valued at $400 was stolen from a home on Shamrock Court in Port Republic between June 29 and 30. Dep. R. Brady is investigating.

BURGLARY: On June 30 Dep. V. Evans arrested Don Michael Capizzi, 35 of no fixed address, and charged him with burglary after being advised by the victim that they suspected Capizzi. Capizzi was located and found with items that had been stolen from the residence that day on Island Landing Court in Broomes Island.

THEFT: Two chain saws, a Stihl and a Husqvarna, together valued at $800, were stolen out of a truck parked outside a residence on Leitches Wharf Road. The theft occurred on July 2 between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Dep. C. McDonough is investigating.

CDS VIOLATION: DFC J. Harms charged Richard Allan Watson, 41 of Lusby, with possession with the intent to use an unconventional smoking device, used to inhale marijuana, after he stopped him for a traffic violation on July 4 at 12:39 a.m. on Thunderbird Drive in Lusby.

DISORDERLY: Dep. J. Norton arrested Dorothy Irene Emerson, 41 of Chesapeake Beach and charged her with disorderly after she refused to leave the parking lot outside the Crooked I Bar in North Beach on July 5 at 12:51 a.m. She became disorderly and pushed over a bicycle belonging to the Calvert County Sheriff's Office, causing $400 in damage. She was charged with disorderly conduct, failure to obey a lawful order and malicious destruction of property.
