Sparling Appointed Interim County Attorney for St. Mary's

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (June 9, 2010)—The Board of County Commissioners for St. Mary's County at its meeting Tuesday appointed George Sparling as interim County Attorney effective June 14. The appointment comes as a result of the prior attorney, Christy Chesser, being appointed as the new district court judge for St. Mary's.

Sparling has 34 years of legal experience both as a Maryland trial lawyer and in business and real estate transactions and is a former State's Attorney for St. Mary's County (1974-1978).

Sparling currently provides legal counsel to the County's Board of Appeals. He has also served as Counsel to the St. Mary's County Ethics Commission and has served as Chairman of the Board of Property Review for St. Mary's County.
