MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (May 11, 2010) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT: The Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack, will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint during the Memorial Day weekend. This operation is being conducted as a result of "Checkpoint StrikeForce" which is a cooperative effort between five states and Washington, D.C. The goal of this effort is to reduce the number of drunk and drugged drivers on Calvert County roadways. The members of the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack are dedicated to preventing alcohol related collisions and will continue to conduct these types of operations throughout the calendar year.

DUI AND POSSESSION OF DRUGS: On May 4 at 11:12 a.m., Trooper Thompson stopped a vehicle after a "look-out" was broadcast for a vehicle operating recklessly on Route 4. The vehicle was stopped on Route 4 at Hospital Drive in Prince Frederick. Michael R. Culligan, 52 of Prince Frederick, was arrested and charged with DUI. He was also found to be in possession of pills that he was not prescribed. He was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: On May 5 at 3:03 p.m., Trooper Logsdon responded to the 1000 block of Tiffany Park in Owings for a reported theft. Numerous construction tools were stolen from a work van. The investigation is continuing.

STOLEN VEHICLE: On May 8 at 12:12 p.m., Trooper First Class Gill responded to the 2600 block of Scientists Cliff Rd. in Port Republic for a reported stolen vehicle. A 1996 Green Subaru was stolen from the driveway of a residence. The investigation is continuing.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On May 9 at 12:24 a.m., Trooper West stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on HG Trueman Rd. in Solomons. During the traffic stop, Marijuana was located in the vehicle. Brian A. Lowery, 30 of Great Mills, was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: On May 9 at 1:50 p.m., Corporal Bevard received a call of theft from a vehicle in the 2800 block of Lookout Trail in Huntingtown. The rear registration plate was stolen from a vehicle. The investigation is continuing.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On May 9 at 6:16 p.m., Trooper First Class Merkelson responded to the 6100 block of Scaggs Rd. in Owings, for a reported malicious destruction of property. A mailbox was spray painted. The investigation is continuing.
