LA PLATA, Md. (May 7, 2010) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

PATROL OFFICERS LOCATE AND ARREST THEFT SUSPECT: On May 6 at 5:22 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to K&G Fashion at 1240 Smallwood Drive West in Waldorf for the report of a theft in progress. Investigation revealed the suspect entered the store, stole a suit and fled in a black vehicle. The victim called police and provided responding officers a description of the car. Sgt. Draheim, who was nearby, observed the suspect's vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. As he approached the car, Sgt. Draheim observed the stolen suit on the back seat. He also recovered four other stolen suits and ten pairs of dress shoes. The suspect, Thomas Cooper, Jr. 58, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with theft.

ATM STOLEN: On May 7 at 4:30 a.m., unknown suspects broke into the Gilligan's Pier restaurant located at 11535 Popes Creek Road in Faulkner and stole an ATM. The area was canvassed and the scene was processed for evidence. Detectives are pursuing several leads. FALSE REPORT OF ARMED ROBBERY: On May 6 at 1:47 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the area of Hawthorne Road near Manor Drive in Ripley for the report of an armed robbery. The complainant told officers he was walking on Route 225 when a car stopped on the shoulder of the roadway. The complainant said he approached the car where an unknown suspect allegedly put a gun to his head and demanded his money and watch. The complainant said he complied and the suspects fled. Officers canvassed the area and continued interviewing the alleged victim. After noting inconsistencies, the victim admitted to officers he made up the robbery because he wanted a ride home. His cell phone no longer had minutes and 911 was the only number he could call. Charges are pending. Officer S. Davis is investigating.

PATROL OFFICERS ARREST BURGLARY SUSPECTS: On May 5 at 12:17 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the 3000 block of Warehouse Landing Road in Bryans Road for the report of a burglary in progress in which two suspects were inside the residence. When officers arrived, they were told the suspects had just fled toward Frasier Road. As officers established a perimeter, a citizen advised he saw two males wearing no shirts run into a nearby wooded area. A K-9 team responded and conducted a track which led to the 5000 block of Crecy Court where one suspect was located. The suspect, 17, of Indian Head, was linked to the burglary and arrested. He was charged with burglary and remanded to the Cheltenham juvenile facility. Detectives are in the process of identifying the second suspect. Officer P. Sady is investigating.
