911 Call Alleges Gun on Grounds of Patuxent High School


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (May 5, 2010)—School officials in Calvert County report a call was made to 911 this afternoon around 2:15 p.m. alleging someone had a gun on the grounds of Patuxent High School in Lusby. Police responded to the school and school officials report that two individuals have been taken into custody off of school grounds. Officials say no gun has been found as of 4 p.m.

Buses at PHS were held and students were kept in classrooms until law enforcement declared all clear at about 2:35 p.m. Dismissal was completed by 2:40 pm.

After-school activities are running on a normal schedule.

At this time, there are no planned changes to the schedule at Patuxent High School and the school will open as scheduled on Thursday, May 6.

School officials say additional support from school staff and law enforcement will be on-site in the coming days to assist in providing a safe environment at Patuxent High School.

The Sheriff's office and the Maryland State Police continue to investigate the incident.
