LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 28, 2010)—A three vehicle accident Monday in the Budds Creek area resulted in one fatality. Alford Worton, 43 of Leonardtown, was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown where he passed at approximately 5:00 a.m. due to injuries sustained in the accident. A second driver was sent to the same hospital and the third driver was not transported.
The accident occurred at approximately 5:26 p.m. in the area of Budds Creek Road and Chaptico Park in Budds Creek.
Police say Worton was traveling eastbound on Budds Creek Road in a 2007 Ford F-150 pick-up truck when he struck the rear of a 2007 Dodge Caravan minivan operated by Brenda Bouch, 37 of Mechanicsville. Bouch was stopped on the road waiting for oncoming traffic to clear so she could turn left into Chaptico Park. The impact forced Worton's vehicle into the path of oncoming traffic and he was struck by a 2001 GMC Sierra 2500 pick-up truck operated by Wendy Adkins, 38 of Welcome. Adkins' truck caught fire due to the impact.
Ms. Bouch was not transported to a hospital.
Ms. Adkins was transported to St Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown.
Police say there is currently no indication that speed, alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the collision.
