Gov. Appoints Harwood to CSM Board, Two Others Reappointed


ANNAPOLIS (April 20, 2010) - Governor Martin O’Malley on Friday, April 16, announced the confirmation of Theodore L. Harwood, of St. Mary’s County, to the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Board of Trustees. Governor O’Malley also reappointed MacArthur Jones and Janice Walthour to the CSM Board of Trustees.

Mr. Harwood has over 36 years of engineering and technical support experience at the national and international levels. He is a Certified Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer and currently is the Vice President and Senior Engineer for SENTEL, where he oversees and directs the Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Division. From 1979 to 2003, he served in the United States Navy Reserve as a Naval Flight Officer, making his way up the ranks where he finally retired as Captain. He is the winner of two United States patents, including a patent for the “Method and Apparatus for Protecting Personnel from RF-Triggered Explosive Devices (RTED) Using Ultra-Wideband Transmissions”; U.S. Patent No. US 7,138,936; and a patent for the “Method and Apparatus for Protecting Personnel from RF-Based Threats Using Ultra-Wideband Transmission”; U.S. Patent No. US 7,423,575. He received his Bachelor of Science in Naval Science from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1974.
