LA PLATA, Md. (April 13, 2010) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On April 12 at 11:45 p.m., unknown suspects threw a street sign through the window of the victim's house in the 2100 block of Freemantle Court in Waldorf. Officers canvassed the area with negative results. Officer R. Bagley is investigating.
TEEN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING POLICE OFFICER: On April 12 at 9:15 p.m., officers responded to the 7300 block of Marshall Corner Road in Pomfret for a complaint involving an ATV racing up and down the roadway. Upon arrival, an officer observed the ATV parked in a driveway and approached the driver on foot. The driver stated he was fixing the ATV but then he suddenly started the machine and tried to take off. The officer reached toward the driver but he fled, dragging the officer about 50 feet down the driveway. As the ATV reached the roadway, the officer was able to free himself. Officers canvassed the area and located the driver, 16, a short time later. He was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, second - degree assault and fleeing and eluding. Officer Lerch is investigating.
STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On April 9 at 9:34 p.m., officers responded to Sub Way at 4611 Indian Head Highway in Indian Head for the report of a strong-arm robbery. Investigation revealed a man and woman were getting in their car when two suspects approached, pulled the male from the car, assaulted him and stole a laptop. Two witnesses chased the suspects but they escaped. Officers and a K-9 team responded and canvassed the area. The victim was treated for non life-threatening injuries. Officer M.
