LA PLATA, Md. (April 13, 2010) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest report.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On April 10 at approximately 2258 hours, Trooper B. Sorenson was traveling southbound Route 301, north of Smallwood Drive when he observed the driver of a white Cadillac not restrained by a seat belt. Trooper Sorenson stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Jason Dwayne Edwards, 29, of Waldorf, and his passengers Nadine Mornisha Keemer, 29, of Lusby, and Michael David Hutchinson, 27, of Waldorf. Corporal R. Cuyler and K-9 Atos, from the Charles County Sheriffs Office arrived on the scene to assist Trooper Sorenson. A K-9 scan of the vehicle was conducted with a positive alert. All three occupants were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, CDS paraphernalia and possession with the intent to distribute.
VOLUNTEERS IN POLICE SUPPORT: The Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack is in need of volunteers for its fingerprinting unit, which operates on Saturday mornings between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Interested applicants should contact First Sergeant P. Spaulding at 301-392-1200 during the week. In addition to completing the required application, applicants will be fingerprinted for clearance. Retired law enforcement officers are encouraged to apply. All applicants will be considered, and applicants lacking fingerprinting experience will be trained.
