LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 8, 2010) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) released the following incident and arrest reports. BCI is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown.
ILLEGAL GAMING MACHINES: Detectives from the BCI Vice Narcotics Division responded to citizen complaints of possible illegal gambling at a Charlotte Hall
restaurant (St. Mary's Landing). As the investigation proceeded, it was confirmed that four electronic gaming devices were being offered to the public for use within the confines of the restaurant and bar areas. A search and seizure warrant was obtained and executed
April 8 at approximately 7:00 am at the business. Vice Narcotics detectives seized approximately $12,000 in cash, four electronic gaming devices and ledgers and documents that support the charges of illegal gambling. A case review will be conducted with State's Attorney Richard D. Fritz and charges are pending.
SEX OFFENDER FAILURE TO REGISTER NEW ADDRESS: During routine random checks, detectives from the BCI Sex Offender Registry Unit discovered a registered child sex offender, Kevin Wayne Quade, age 41, had moved from his reported residence in Callaway to an unknown location. Attempts to locate Quade were initially unsuccessful. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued by the St. Mary's County District Court Commissioner's Office. Quade was apprehended on Thursday, April 8.
