MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 8, 2010) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Thursday, April 1 at 3:14 am, TFC J. A. Pilkerton assisted a female complainant, 34, of Mechanicsville, at the Leonardtown Barrack. The complainant advised she was assaulted in the 25000 block of Long Woods Lane, Mechanicsville. Upon completing the interview with the complainant, several events transpired at the Leonardtown Barrack, subsequently leading to a traffic stop with the assault suspect on MD Route 5, North of MD Route 243. John Irvin Eberwein, 39, of Mechanicsville, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Assault. Mr. Eberwein was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he is being held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Friday, April 2 at 4:15 pm, Tpr. B. T. Wiesemann responded to a business parking lot in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road, Lexington Park, MD. On the scene contact was made with Dawn Rene Taylor, 43, of Callaway, who advised she was involved in an altercation with Arlan Llave Knowlton, 33, of Callaway. Following interviews with both parties, Ms. Taylor and Mr. Knowlton were both arrested on Second Degree Assault charges, and transported to St. Mary's County Detention Center. Both subjects were held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Saturday, April 3 at 12:29 pm, Tpr. J. C. Hardesty responded to Flooring Max / Seymour Auto Parts in Charlotte Hall for a reported malicious destruction of property. Upon arrival contact was made with the male complainant, 50, of Chaptico, who advised he observed graffiti on the rear of the building. Investigations have produced a trend in similar reports in the area. The costs of damages are being estimated and this investigation is ongoing.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, April 5 at 3:55 pm, Sean Davis Fuqua, 41, of Raleigh, North Carolina was arrested by TFC M. R. Grimes on two Bench Warrants (T3-10945 / T3-11651) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown. The warrants were issued by the Court in July and August of 2004, with original charges of First Degree Burglary and Theft less than $500.00. Mr. Fuqua was extradited from the Wake County Sheriff's Office in Raleigh and served without incident at the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Mr. Fuqua will be held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, April 6 at 5:43 pm, David Alan Shaffier, 34, of Lusby, was arrested by Tpr. S. Casarella on a Bench Warrant (T3-14340) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on March 4. The original charge was Driving Under the Influence. Mr. Shaffier was located by the Charles County Sheriffs Office and returned to St. Mary's County for the warrant service. Mr. Shaffier is being held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
