MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (April 05, 2010) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On April 4 at approximately 0004 hours, TFC W. Posey was traveling eastbound on St. Charles Parkway, north of St. Marks Drive, when an MVA check on a red Chevrolet Impala revealed the registration was suspended for vehicle emissions. TFC Posey stopped the vehicle; made contact with the driver, Justin Matthew Fulton, 21 of Clinton, and his passenger, Dominque Rhonsha Gross, 20 of Waldorf, when he detected an odor of marijuana. Fulton and Gross were arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE: On April 4 at approximately 0145 hours, Trooper J. Waldorf responded to the Super 8 Hotel on northbound Crain Highway at Mall circle to assist TFC J. Edelen with a suspicious vehicle. TFC Edelen conducted a patrol check at the Super 8 Hotel when he observed four occupants parked on the side of the hotel with vehicle lights out and the engine not running. Contact was made with the occupants. Rahman Amid Muhammad, 35 of Waldorf, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA, DUI, RESISTING ARREST: On April 5 at approximately 2345 hours, TFC J. Edelen was on routine patrol on northbound U.S. Route 301, south of Route 5, when he observed a green Chevy SUV without the registration lamp illuminating the registration plate. TFC Edelen stopped the vehicle and made contact with Terry Mark Swann, 42 of Oxon Hill, when he smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle. TFC Edelen called for assistance and Tpr. T. Zinn arrived at the scene. As TFC Edelen attempted to place Swann under arrest, Swann took off running down Route 5. TFC Edelen was able to catch Swann and place him under arrest. Swann was charged with possession of marijuana, paraphernalia, DUI and resisting arrest.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE, ASSAULT: On April 2 at approximately 1620 hours, TFC Armstrong attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a green Volkswagon Beetle with no registration. The driver of the Volkswagon, later identified as David Wayne Jones, Jr., 25, of no fixed address, initially stopped then fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Approximately ½ mile from the scene of the initial traffic stop, Jones struck multiple vehicles on Western Parkway north of Plaza Drive, Waldorf, while attempting to elude. The Volkswagon became disabled and Jones Jr., fled on foot. Jones Jr., was apprehended in T/A Famous Footwear located in Waldorf Marketplace. Jones was charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, 1st and 2nd degree Assault. Bond was unknown at time of press release.
