LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 02, 2010) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
THEFT: On April 1, Deputy Glen Knott responded to Walmart in California for a reported theft. Deputy Knott learned Anthony S. Thirouin, 25, of California, was observed by a store employee attempting to leave the business without paying for merchandise. When confronted, Thirouin was found in possession of a Power Wheels 12-volt battery for which he had not paid. Thirouin was arrested, charged with theft under $100 and released to the custody of the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
CDS VIOLATION: On April 2, Deputy Brandon Foor responded to a noise complaint within a residential neighborhood in Mechanicsville. While investigating the noise complaint, Deputy Foor stopped a Honda passenger vehicle which had been described as possibly involved. During the stop, Deputy Foor observed drug paraphernalia (smoking device) in plain view. A search of the vehicle revealed a second smoking device in the passenger compartment along with a quantity of suspected Marijuana. The vehicle operator, Edward E. Moore, 20, of Mechanicsville, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
