LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 22, 2010) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) today released the following incident and arrest report. BCI is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown.
1ST DEGREE ASSAULT, RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: On Friday, March 19, at approximately 1408 hours, patrol units from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police responded to 46850 Patuxent Rd. in Lexington Park for a reported shooting. Patrol units arrived on the scene and were unable to locate a suspect. BCI was contacted and responded to the scene to assume the investigation. Joseph Cephas Harrod, 24, and Jeremiah Lee Logan, 29, both of Lexington Park, were later identified as the suspects. After a brief search of the area, both suspects were located and transported to BCI for questioning.
Investigation revealed that an argument between the suspects and unknown males took place at the above location. Harrod became irate and retrieved a handgun and shot several times in the air and at a residence. Harrod and Logan were arrested and transported to the County Detention Center. They were charged with 1st Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment. Additional charges are pending a review with the States Attorney's Office.

BCI issued a retraction on 2010-MARCH-24 indicating that Mr. Logan was detained,
but not charged as indicated in the report above.
