PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (March 18, 2010)—The Chesapeake Community Chorus will
perform its first concert in the 2010 series this Sunday, March 21st at 5:00
p.m. at Olivet United Methodist Church on Olivet Rd. in Lusby. Through free-will offerings, the performances of spiritual music will raise funds for the operation of the Burnett-Calvert Hospice House.
Other concerts in the series will take place at churches throughout Calvert County.
Director Larry Brown will conduct over forty gifted voices through several selections, both modern and traditional. The chorus is composed of members of the local community and from many churches in Calvert County.
Previous concerts have generated in excess of $23,000 over the past four years for the Burnett-Calvert Hospice House, which welcomed its first patients in January of this year.
"This music can inspire the soul and lift the spirit," said Calvert Hospice Clinical Director Kendra Logan, R.N. As the interim Executive Director for Calvert Hospice, and a member of the Chorus, Kendra goes on to explain, "After raising money to help build Calvert County's first Hospice House, The Chesapeake Community Chorus is now raising funds which will go toward the operation of the House. This kind of effort will help assure that the everyday expenses to care for those at the Hospice House will be covered."
The Burnett-Calvert Hospice House is a home-away-from-home, available to anyone in Calvert County living their final days for whom care at home is not an option. Access to the Hospice House is available on a first-come, first-served basis regardless of the individual's ability to pay and provides a full range of hospice services.
