LA PLATA, Md. (March 11, 2010) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ROBBERY: On March 10 at 9:48 p.m., a man and a woman were sitting inside a car in the 11300 block of Stoney Cove Drive in Waldorf when the suspects drove up in a dark colored SUV. Two suspects got out of the car, approached the victims, displayed a shotgun and demanded money. The victims complied and the suspects fled. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Officer R. Garrett is investigating.

PATROL OFFICERS ARREST SUSPECTS IN ATTEMPT ROBBERY: Charles County Sheriff's officers arrested Rashad Demonn Wilson, 21, and Macon Leonard Ryland, 19, both of Bryans Road, in connection with a robbery that occurred on March 10 at 9:15 p.m. in the 3100 block of Marshall Hall Road. The suspects approached an 18-year-old male, assaulted him and attempted to steal his jacket. They fled after a brief struggle and the victim called police. Officers canvassed the area and located the suspects behind a nearby business. They were arrested and charged with attempt robbery, first-degree assault and second-degree assault. Officer D. Benthin made the arrest.

SHERIFF'S OFFICERS IDENTIFY AND ARREST TWO SUSPECTS IN NANJEMOY HOME INVASION AND ASSAULT: Charles County Sheriff Rex W. Coffey said detectives arrested Craig Brian Simms, 39, of Nanjemoy and Harry Jerome Harvey, 49, of Brandywine, in connection with a home invasion, assault, and robbery that occurred on January 1 in the 11200 block of Holly Springs Road in Nanjemoy.

Investigation revealed Simms and Harvey knocked on the victim's back door. When the victim answered, the suspects punched him and forced their way inside. A neighbor heard the assault and tried to intervene but the suspects struck him. The suspects then riffled through the victim's belongings and demanded money. It is unclear if they stole anything prior to fleeing.

One of the victims' recognized Simms as a person who lived in the area but the victim did not know the suspect's full name. Investigators tracked the lead down and identified Simms as being involved in the assault; he was arrested on January 28. Detectives continued their investigation and subsequently linked Harvey to the crime. Harvey, who was in the Charles County Detention Center on an un-related charge, was served an arrest warrant on March 11. Both men were charged with robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault and second-degree assault. They were remanded to the Charles County Detention Center.
